The BACON eating incident.

bacon

The cooks on submarines get to eat their bacon or food first. Each breakfast furthered the feeling of another groundhogs day while underway. Half way through the meal, all the french toast or pancakes or waffles (whichever syrup bearing load was served that day) would be gone. The fake eggs would soon follow. The bread would then disappear. Real milk would not be available after about 3 days so even my own cereal I stored in the engine room was not usable. Frequently the oatmeal would not be there either. It sounds as if there are choices, but it sounds wrong. The meal would be reduced to bacon and mixed meat material everyday. I decided this was ridiculous as I wanted more choices than bacon. They decided that bacon was "food," and since "food" was still available, they did not have to cook any more. I had a friend join me in my conquest to eat all of the bacon. I figured if bacon was all they had, I would eat the bacon. Eventually I would fix breakfast. My friend and I would have no problem eating 3, 4, or 5 plates of bacon each. Within a half week they started to ration off breakfast to the entire crew, but the food lasted the entire hour (not just the bacon.) Eventually breakfast went back to normal, and lasted the entire meal. It took a 22 year old punk to hold the cooks to some sort of standard, because everyone else was too accepting of sub servant service, too accepting of bacon. I pissed many people off when they had to wait for their food while it was being rationed, and I think less than 10 people out of the entire crew realized that I fixed breakfast, surely the captain was too one directional (close minded, ignorant) to understand. Now that I am gone, I am sure things have probably reverted and bacon is the option.
